Jennie Chia

Jennie is a high energy mother of two, who always strives to maintain a healthy lifestyle and believes in leading by example. After being an overworked accounting professional for more than a decade, a high-risk pregnancy put her on bedrest and resulted in over 40 lbs. of weight gain.

This was an eye opener for Jennie and she worked hard to get her body back after her pregnancy. Her results inspired a group of friends in her mommy support group, which lead her to finding passion for coaching and strength training.

Outside of the gym, Jennie enjoys being one with nature and you will find her mountain biking, hiking, and camping in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter.  She also enjoys organizing group activities with like-minded families to get in shape and de-stress in the outdoors.

Education & Qualifications

Jennie graduated from San Jose State University with a Finance degree.  She worked in high tech as an accounting professional for over a decade.

Feeling overworked and unfulfilled, she embarked on a career change to become a fitness coach.  Jennie completed a 6-month long (1,000 hour) internship program with Mint Condition Fitness.

During the internship, Jennie learned the basics of functional movement and designing personalized fitness programs for clients of all ages to improve their balance, posture, endurance, strength, and flexibility.

Certifications include:

  • American Council of Exercise (ACE): Certified Personal Trainer
    • Utilizing the foundation of the ACE Integrated Fitness Training® Model to deliver individualized programming and deliver effective, safe and enjoyable training experiences.
  • Functional Movement Screen: Level 1 Certified
    • Developed by two physical therapists, the functional movement screen is a way of assessing and grading movement to find the weak link for someone, therefore establishing the greatest risk for injury.
  • Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC): Level 1 Certified
    • In-depth knowledge of proper programming and coaching around functional training, exercise progressions, regressions, and working with and around injury. Functional training is the industry term for training that carries over to everyday life. It integrates movements that are needed for daily living, like how to properly pick things up, put things over your head, carry things, get off the floor, etc.

Balancing family and a career may be tough, but I believe finding time for yourself and your health is very important.  I live by this quote from Albert Einstein:

“Life is like riding a bicycle.  To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

My passion lies in living an active lifestyle and inspiring others to find the motivation to improve their fitness levels and celebrate their accomplishments.
